About the Artist
Teresa Rios-TerHeun is an Interdisciplinary Artist with concentrations in Visual Art and Creative Writing. Her works have been displayed and published in the US and abroad – including the San Francisco Bay Area, Spain and London.
Sharing time between Europe and the United States, she is currently undertaking a master apprenticeship in Flamenco Guitar with her father, Agustin Rios Amaya, nephew to Diego Del Gastor. Grand Niece herself of Diego Del Gastor, the artist comes from the notable Gastor Dynasty of Andalucia, Spain.
Great granddaughter of Dewitt TerHeun, Teresa descends on her mother's side from Highfield Estate's TerHeun family of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Teresa is a Romani activist and scholar, deeply concerned with the current plight of Europe's largest ethnic minority, the Romani/Roma/Gypsy population. Rios-TerHeun lectures on topics of Romani History, culture and present situation, with an emphasis on Spain and Flamenco.
